Wake Up Call

This Folgers Coffee commercial first aired in the 1980s as an alternative to common drinking habits. It was quickly pulled but today there exists a remaining copy to your viewing delight. There are many ways to wake up but only one Wake Up Call.

Filmed in 2007, there are few words to describe this commercial besides, “subverting expectations.” That was my original intention when I noticed how coffee commercials follow a specific pattern. This one does too but just not in the direction your brain thought. Its popularity even inspired a 2013 remake, Wake Up Call HD.
